Green Sand Beach - A hiking
Experience (click on pictures to enlarge)
Green Sand beach is a beach located in a hidden
crater on the coast. The green sand is a semi-precious
stone which formed in the lava and is released with the break of the
lava stone. The beach is a crater where the softer ash has become
the beach. It is about a
4 mile hike to the beach from the boat launch at south point (the road
that
forks to the left ). It is recommended you wear sturdy
shoes as
the trail has both rocky gravel and sand. It is also recommended
that
you leave no valuables in your car, as it is unprotected.
