Located on the Kona Coast south of Captain Cook it is about

could absolve a person from "kapu" (forbidden). It was kapu to look
at or walk on the same ground as the king and you would be put to death.
A person could flee to the City of Refuge they were cleansed of their crime.
The grounds contain a number of temples in a beautiful coastal landscape.
There is a $5 parking fee. It takes about 30 mins to enjoy grounds.
The famous painted church (link to pictures of church
) is on the way to (or from) the City of Refuge and would
be a quick stop to see. There is no fee to see the painted church.
