Unless you are going to use your 100% Kona Coffee within 2 weeks, we recommend you store in your refrigerator for moderate term storage or in your freezer for extended storage. If you aren't sure how long you will keep the coffee, the freezer is recommended for storage. The cold storage is to maintain the fresh roast flavor. |

in high quality is to pick only the ripe fruit. Green
fruit, if not removed, will cause a bitterness in the
coffee. Migrant workers pick many of the fields and are
paid by the pound so it is not in their interest to remove any green
fruit that may fall in. We at KonaLani pick all KonaLani
Coffee ourselves and sort all pickings prior to process pulping
(removing the bean from the fruit). One of the biggest
detractions from flavor in Kona coffee as a whole, is the large volume
processing where no quality control can be done. If
the farmer processes at a mill, typically large batches are pulped and
processed to the bean. The farmer get back a mixture of his
select coffee mixed with everyone else's else processed in that batch.
So even if a farmer quality picks the coffee, he or she will
lose that control at the mill. We at KonaLani do small batch
pulping where we can examine all fruit picked and processed to have
full quality control from the moment of picking. That
is why we are confident in the quality of our coffee.
We think it is misleading when coffee labels say "award
winning". This is because the cupping contest are "select
pickings" and do directly correspond to the coffee you will
buy. Typically a special picking was done
especially for the contest. This is NOT TRUE for
KonaLani Coffee. Every batch is picked with the same
"Farmer Select" by our family. The bean has to be
colored like you would eat it as a strawberry.
The fruit is picked at the peak of flavor.
